12-Week Regain Program

Referred to Diabetes & Chronic Disease Care by her General Practitioner Dr. E. Musumeci.  Rhonda was advised to take control of her health by learning new skills to implement healthy lifestyle changes in the management of her Type 2 Diabetes

What are the benefits for you if you remain in your current lifestyle? What are your concerns about staying the same? What are the advantages of making changes to your lifestyle?

For me answering those questions when they were suggested by my coach Karen made all the difference, as the saying goes, “It was a no brainer”. It was clear!  My purpose was to take control of my own health management and to enjoy my working life and my family life again.  

 

For me that is all I needed to power through this 12-week program and achieve some amazing results.  My blood pressure has dropped, my fasting blood glucose levels have dropped from 9 to 6, my cholesterol has dropped, my anxiety has decreased, my vitamin D levels have increased, and I have lost 5kg of weight. 

 

I’m finally in control of my health and I feel great!

I recently completed a 12 week course with Karen at Diabetes & Chronic Disease Care to address my weight and overall wellness.  I  have battled for most of my life with my weight, and was looking for a more holistic approach for my general wellness and to lose weight without having to undergo very restrictive diets as I had in the past. I also had a lap band removed, and was very conscious of not putting on weight after this procedure.

 

One of the main drivers during the 12 weeks was setting achievable goals, both for the whole 12 week period and also weekly goals. The aim was to change habits that I had a lifetime to develop, which were sabotaging my goals to live a healthier life. This was done slowly, but effectively with habits such as mindless snacking, eating without being hungry, drinking diet drinks instead of water and setting up exercise routines. I now have a couple of days a week meat free, regularly incorporate intermittent fasting into my day, drink 2 litres of water a day and attend a fitness class 3 times a week. These changes have seen me lose 7 kgs and 33 cms overall  in the 12 weeks. Although I still have some way to go, I feel that I can refer back to my workbook and notes, and continue my Lifestyle journey going forward.  This was definitely a positive experience for me.
